Custom software, scoped and quoted

When an organization needs a system built around how it actually works, we scope it, price it in writing and build it. These are quoted engagements with an ongoing support agreement after launch.

Is this the right kind of project?

Custom development is the right call when off-the-shelf software makes you change how you operate, when several systems need to talk to each other, or when the thing you need simply doesn't exist yet. It's the wrong call when a well-built website would do the job — and we'll say so on the first call rather than quote you for work you don't need.

Engagements run from a focused single-purpose tool up to a multi-year platform. Scope drives the number, so we quote each one individually after discovery rather than publishing a rate card that wouldn't mean anything.

What we build

The work below is the shape of most of our engagements. If yours looks different, the call is still worth fifteen minutes.

Multi-user platforms

Systems with real roles and permissions — staff, administrators, members, customers — where who can see and do what actually matters.

Scheduling & booking

Availability, calendars, reminders and the messy edge cases that come with them. We've shipped this in healthcare, where getting it wrong isn't an option.

Payments & billing

Checkout, subscriptions, payouts and invoicing wired into a processor properly, with the reconciliation and failure handling that has to sit behind it.

Integrations

Connecting the systems you already run — student information systems, CRMs, accounting, payment processors — so data moves without anyone rekeying it.

Sensitive data

Where records are regulated or simply shouldn't leak, access control, encryption and audit trails are part of the build, not a later hardening pass.

AI where it earns its place

We've shipped AI features in production. We'll also tell you when a problem doesn't need a model and a simpler solution will hold up better.

How engagements work

No surprises in either direction. Here are the terms we work under.

Discovery comes first

Before anything is quoted

We work through what the system has to do, who uses it and what it connects to. You get a written scope out of it — and it's yours whether or not you hire us to build it.

Fixed scope, written quote

Approved before work starts

Custom work is quoted and invoiced against that scope. You know the number and what it covers before we write a line of code, and changes are priced as changes.

Built in stages

Reviewable throughout

You see working software at intervals through the build, not a reveal at the end. Milestones are how we keep a long project honest for both sides.

Managed after launch

Ongoing monthly

Hosting, monitoring, security updates and continued development run on a monthly agreement sized to the system. Priced per engagement — a platform is not a brochure site.

You own it

Code, data and accounts

The source, the data and the infrastructure accounts are yours. We're a supplier you can replace, and we'd rather earn the renewal than hold the keys.

We answer the phone

A named team, not a queue

You deal with the people who built the thing. For systems people depend on daily, that's the difference between a fix in an hour and a ticket in a backlog.

Let's scope it out

Tell us what the system needs to do and who depends on it. We'll tell you whether we're the right team and what building it properly involves.

Discovery, written scope and a quote before any development begins.
